Wordle Archive: play every past Wordle

The Wordle Archive has every daily Wordle since the very first puzzle, #0 on 19 June 2021. Pick a date on the calendar, type a puzzle number or step back one day at a time, and play it exactly as it was, with the original answer for that day.

Your progress is saved in your browser, so the calendar shows which puzzles you have solved, missed or left half-finished. Want something new? Try the daily Wordle on Wordle.gg or Wordle Unlimited.

    How to play

Every Wordle since the first puzzle on 19 June 2021 is here. Pick one from the archive and guess the five-letter word in six tries.

    The basics

    1. 1 Choose a puzzle from the calendar, type its number, or use the arrows to step through the archive.
    2. 2 Type any five-letter word and press Enter. The tiles change colour to show how close you are.
    3. 3 You have six guesses. Solve the word and the puzzle turns green on the calendar; miss it and it turns red.
    4. 4 Your progress is saved, so you can leave a puzzle half-finished and come back to it later.

    Reading the colours

    P L A N T
Green: right letter, right spot The letter is in the word and in exactly this position.
    G H O S T
Yellow: right letter, wrong spot The letter is in the word, but somewhere else.
    S M I L E
Grey: not in the word The letter does not appear anywhere in the word. The keyboard greys it out too.

    The keyboard

The keyboard keeps track of every letter you have tried, so you can see at a glance which ones are left.

G Green: the letter is in the word and in the right spot.
Y Yellow: the letter is in the word, but in a different spot.
X Grey: the letter is not in the word.

    A round, step by step

    The hidden word is PLANT.

    C R A N E
CRANE: A and N are in the right spots.
    S L A N T
SLANT: L, A, N and T are all correct. Only the first letter is missing.
    P L A N T
    PLANT: solved in three guesses.

    Tips

    • Open with a word full of common letters, like CRANE or SLATE.
    • Use your second guess to test new letters instead of repeating ones you already know.
    • Remember that letters can repeat. ROBOT and LLAMA are both valid answers.
    • Stuck on one puzzle? Leave it for later. It stays yellow on the calendar until you finish it.
